Friend of the Event

This user group was founded in February 2013 as Windows Management User Group by IT Pro's with a passion for everything that has to do with managing Windows, but not limiting to Windows. Early 2021, we renamed our group to the Workplace Ninjas User Group in The Netherlands and be part of the broader WPNinja's all over EMEA.

Since 2022 there is a partnership between the annual IT Ninja event in Switzerland and AppManagEvent in the Netherlands

Our goal is to provide a platform for IT-Pro's to share knowledge gain from the field and to share tips and tricks. This can be done via periodic physical meetups, virtual events, blogs or other channels.

We want you to join us and take up the role within our User Group by sharing your knowledge with your peers from the community. Come and see us at the booth on the partner floor of AppManagEvent!

AppDeployNews is an initiative from a collective of application packagers, consisting of freelancers, corporate packagers and a few small companies.

Since there is no central platform for application packaging information (plus all related aspects) we felt the need to join forces to create a new(s) platform. We investigated the current sources of information and discovered information is scattered over more than hundred websites. Some current and up-to-date, some abandoned for several years. We decided to gather all interesting information and bundle this on a new(s) website.

Every person involved in application packaging for ten years or more will know exactly why we choose the name AppDeployNews.

Sami Laiho is one of the world’s leading professionals in the Windows OS and Security. Sami has been working with and teaching OS troubleshooting, management, and security since 1996.
In 2019 Sami was chosen by TiVi-magazine as one of the top 100 influencers in IT in Finland. He is the 11th most followed person in his field in Finland.
 
At Ignite 2018, Sami’s “Behind the Scenes: How to build a conference winning session” and “Sami Laiho: 45 Life Hacks of Windows OS in 45 minutes”  sessions were ranked as #1 and #2 out of 1708 sessions!! This was the first time in the history of the conference that anyone has been able to do this.

Paula Januszkiewicz is CEO of CQURE Inc., Security Expert, Penetration Tester and Trainer, Microsoft MVP and Microsoft Regional Director.
Paula Januszkiewicz is an experienced cybersecurity expert, CEO, and founder of CQURE Inc. and CQURE Academy.

She is an honorable Microsoft Regional Director for CEE, an Enterprise Security MVP, and a top-rated conference speaker at events such as Microsoft Ignite, RSA,Black Hat, AppManagEvent and more. Her presentation was voted the best at Black Hat Asia Briefings 2019. In 2017, she graduated from Harvard Business School.
Paula has over 18 years of experience in the field, including performing penetration tests, consulting, and delivering sessions and trainings. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge and has created security awareness programs for various organizations, including top management. Paula is also a member of the Technical Advisory Board at the Royal Bank of Scotland and has been granted access to the source code of Windows.

“The Kahuna” at his own company, TMurgent Technologies, Tim is recognized as a 12-year MVP by Microsoft and over a dozen years as a ”CTP Fellow” by Citrix.  As the guy who brought Application Virtualization to your vocabulary, he built the original version of what you know of as App-V today and has been nose deep into MSIX since even before it was announced by Microsoft.  

Author of books, including MSIX Fundamentals for IT Pros, The Developer’s Guide to MSIX, and The Application Book for Packagers, his company is well known both for their tools for IT Pros and their world-renowned training classes.

Mikael Nystrom is a Microsoft MVP and Principal Technical Architect at Truesec, with an extremely broad field of competence. He has worked with all kinds of infrastructure tasks, in all kinds of environments, enterprise to small business.

Mikael is a very popular instructor and is often used by Microsoft for partner trainings as well as to speak at major conferences such as TechEd, MMS, etc. Mikael has been deeply engaged in the development of Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016/2019. Currently Mikael is a part of the Truesec CSIRT Computer Security Incident Response Team, helping customers world-wide to recover from cyberattacks

Peter Daalmans is a Principal Workplace Consultant / Architect and Microsoft Certified Trainer at Daalmans Consulting with a primary focus on the Microsoft Endpoint Manager Configuration Manager and Enterprise Mobility. Peter is awarded every year as a Microsoft Enterprise Mobility MVP (Configuration Manager/Microsoft Intune/Enterprise Mobility Suite) since 2012.


Peter writes blogs and sharing his knowledge on his blog ConfigMgrBlog.com. Peter is also one of the founders and leads of the Windows Management User Group Netherlands.
Author of Mastering System Center 2012 Configuration Manager, Mastering System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager and the just in 2017 released Mastering System Center Configuration Manager, books from Sybex. Peter also released last year a book called: Microsoft Enterprise Mobility Suite, Microsoft Enterprise Mobility Suite: Planning and Implementation.

Kenneth is co-founder of the Workplace Ninja User Group Netherlands (#WPNinjasNL) and organizes (virtual) community meetings on a regular basis.

Bob has been a long-time speaker at the AppManagEvent. He is a distinguished author, a three-time Microsoft MVP, and the founder of the AppDeploy/ITNinja communities. With a rich background in product management, he has spearheaded several market-leading IT professional solutions, driving innovation in the application management space. Bob is currently the Chief Product Officer at Juriba.

Jeff Wouters, former 9* Microsoft MVP for Cloud and Datacenter Management, is the founder of Methos, consultant en Microsoft Certified Trainer Regional Lead with a focus on Infrastructure-as-Code and automation in general. He is a frequent speaker on (inter)national events and founder of the Dutch PowerShell User Group (DuPSUG).

Sander Berkouwer is a Dutch IT Professional. Sander blogs on DirTeam.com. He regularly gets invited as speaker for his enthusiastic approach, his in-depth real-world knowledge and of course as the author of the much-appraised Active Directory Cookbook.
 
Sander has been awarded with the Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) award (for the last 15 years), Veeam Vanguard award (for the last 8 years) and VMware vExpert (for 3 years).
Raymond Comvalius is an independent IT architect and trainer from the Netherlands. He has been active in the IT industry for more than 30 years, of which 25+ years focused on Microsoft infrastructure products for both Government and financial institutes. Raymond is the author of multiple books on Windows and security.
 
As an architect he supports organizations in IT strategy and realization of their next generation workplace infrastructure. Raymond is actively involved with the national and international IT community and was a speaker at multiple international Microsoft events.

Through his years as a consultant for desktop and application delivery practices across industries, he has a broad knowledge of the end-user computing ecosystem, which he uses today when advising clients on their digital workspace objectives.

Toms Knostenbergs is a co-founder of Master Packager.

With over a decade of experience in application and product management, he has collaborated with hundreds of organizations to help them overcome their app management challenges. His experience in day-to-day application packaging led to the opportunity to build his own packaging solution. A solution that would solve the packaging problems Toms and others were facing while keeping the price affordable. A solution that would help others become Master Packagers and build Windows application packages that end-users love, enterprises want, and the Windows OS needs.

Josh is the regional Field CTO of Rimo3. He has a commitment to driving business value through innovative technologies. With over 15 years of enterprise software experience at Embarcadero Technologies, Citrix, and Cherwell Software, Josh has held key roles from Presales Engineering to Customer Success leadership. Josh has spent his career building and leading teams to support and deliver a broad spectrum of technologies

Dan Gough is a Software Engineer at Patch My PC, focussed on automating detection, packaging, deployment and testing of application updates. He also contributes to the development of PSADT.

Scott McAllister is a Support Engineer at Patch My PC. He specializes in third-party updates, ConfigMgr, WSUS, and Intune. Scott has a strong interest in automation technologies, including PowerShell & C#

Ex, Microsoftie, ex 1E co-founder, Phil teamed up with old friend and former colleague Andreas to take on the apathy and stagnation in the world of bandwidth management, OS Deployment and Enterprise Systems Management in general and is now a 'Endpoint Management Disrupter' at 2Pint

Nico Zieck is the Director of Technology & Solutions at Recast Software where he serves as the primary evangelist for Liquit on a technical, practical, and business innovation level. Nico has been at the forefront of driving end user and reseller understanding of how Liquit continually innovates and pushes the boundaries of what is possible in application and digital workspace management.

Ronnie Emilio Tynell is a dynamic technology executive and the innovative founder and CEO of Robopack. He has a rich background in IT management and application packaging, and his expertise has revolutionized how businesses handle their software deployment processes.

David is a COO and co-founder of Access IT Automation, a best-in-class provider of IT automation products that help enterprises improve efficiency, save costs, and adapt to modern desktop strategies and digital transformation. 

With circa 30 years of experience in various roles in the IT industry, David has a deep knowledge of application management, VDI and cloud adoption, VMware and Microsoft products for desktop migrations.

Lorraine is currently working with Access IT Automation as an implementor and SME for Capture. 

Entering the world of the IT straight from Uni into support roles, then progressing into packaging and application migrations.

Lorraine has worked with many of the major financial institutions in both The City & Canary Wharf, working in both technical and project roles for large scale application and platform migrations, OS upgrades and VDI implementations.

Michael is a former software developer that made the switch to the consultancy 'dark side'.

Because of the history building software solutions, the deployment of the stuff that 'works on my dev-system' is a different playing field. Deploying software to a single system is one thing, deploying to a company with 2000 machines a completely different one. 

This is a great puzzle all the time, and that is what makes this work great. It keeps you triggered, you have to follow the latest developments and this results in having the super hobby, and get payed for it! Combine that with a regular (network) BBQ - what else do you need!

Frank has been in IT for almost 30 years. 

After some jobs as system administrator, he joined Axle-IT in 2006. After many projects implementing Novell, Micorsoft and  Ivanti (Pre 2017 known as LANDesk and RES) enduser computing solutions , Frank earned both the Ivanti MVP title as well as being one of only 5 worldwide obtaining the Ivanti EPM Master certification. 

Frank and Axle-IT pioneered by introducing one of the first commercially available application virtualization tools, Thinstall (later ThinApp) into the Dutch market, later did the same with one of the first Applayering Solutions, Unidesk (later Citrix) and works now together with Prianto to introduce Droplet, an innovative Application Containerization tool.

Since a couple of years Frank acts as Techdirector while still acting as consultant for some key accounts

Jeroen boasts nearly 25 years of global consulting and business development experience, with a strong focus on IT operations, ITAM, and cybersecurity. He has successfully initiated and nurtured initiatives for the application packaging industry for several vendors.

In his current role as Security Solution sales at Flexera for EMEA and APAC, he is the author of the Monthly Vulnerability Insights Report.

Venkat is a seasoned product manager with expertise in desktop and server installation products such as InstallShield, as well as application readiness solutions like AdminStudio.

With a strong focus on product development and market strategy, Venkat also manages security solutions like Software Vulnerability Manager, helping organizations streamline their software deployment and security practices.

Venkat is passionate about delivering innovative solutions that enhance efficiency and security across enterprise environments.

AppManagEvent 2024 had one opening-9am and one closing-4pm keynote for all attendees. 
After 10am, there were 4 break-outrooms with 45-minute sessions on various topics.

Event Lottery

Each AppManagEvent, we are looking for a lottery item which is

  • not too big (should fit in a suitecase when traveling)
  • falls into the category "nice-but-I-am-not-sure-if-I-would-spend-my-carefull-saved-money-on-this"
  • is preferably a tech gadget
  • is family friendly
  • has strong wannahave vibe

It may be new/revolutionairy but does not have to be. In the past we had the Sonos Move, the Nintendo WII, Raspberry Pi's, one of the first drones, in 2021 the DJI Mavic Mini2 Drone, in 2022 two DUO packs of Sonos Roam and in 2023 the Nuki Smart Lock 3.0 Pro. 

Two (2) of the attendees have a chance to win at the lottery after the closing keynote. The odds ARE in your favor -- think about this:
  • Only attendees (no partners or speakers) qualify to join the lottery after getting a few stamps from AME partners on the exhibition floor during the day
  • Despite the coolness not all attendees make it on time: typically between 150 and 250 potential winners and 2 prices: that's a REAL chance of walking away with a cool gadget at the end of a fantastic day
